Boating Education
The CanBoat North Shore holds public courses in the Spring and again in the Fall of each year. In addition to the bi-yearly public education courses, the Squadron holds private courses and education nights for the North Shore Yacht Clubs and other organizations who are interested in basic and further boating education for their members. Evening are held at their request.
Our many Recognized Instructors and Recognized Examiners are available to teach and examine the following CanBoat-NautiSavoir courses.
Spring Courses:
- VHF Radio: Maritime Radio with DSC. ROC(M)
- Boating 1, Boating Basics. The PCOC, your Boating License.
- Boating 2, Beyond Boating Basics.
- Boating 3, Introduction to Marine Navigation.
- Boating 4, Near Shore Navigation. (Seamanship)
Fall Courses:
- VHF Radio: Maritime Radio with DSC. ROC(M)
- Boating 1, Boating Basics. The PCOC, your Boating License.
- Boating 2, Beyond Boating Basics.
- Boating 3, Introduction to Marine Navigation.
- Boat and Engine Maintenance
You may register for our Boating courses as a classroom student or as an on-line student. Classes are held in the classroom and ‘zoomed’ out to our on-line students in a ‘simulcast’ presentation.

BOATING 2 BOATING 3 COMBINED
The CanBoat North Shore offers Boating 2 and Boating 3 in a combined course
MARITIME RADIO DSC: ROC(M)
Maritime Radio course teaches emergency radio procedures and everyday operating techniques.
NEAR SHORE MARINE NAVIGATION
BOATING 4: This is a challenging course where boat deviation is included in navigational calculations.
BOATING BASICS (PCOC)
BOATING 1: All operators of motorized pleasure craft are required to show proof of operator competency.
BOAT & ENGINE MAINTENANCE
From spark plugs to bottom paint, this course covers all the basics for "do it yourself” boaters.
